“WandaVision” Sparks a New Wave of Marvel Releases on Disney+

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has been heavily talked about with the recent release of the series “WandaVision” on Disney+. In this series, the focus is on the Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff, and The Vision finally starting a life together after the events that occurred in Avengers: Endgame. The series WandaVision was released every Friday starting from Jan. 15 to March 5, making it a fun part of many students’ weeks.

When asked about her predictions on the series, freshman Natalie Machiran relayed that, “Some of my predictions for the show became true, but I never predicted the ending.”

There were many rumors and theories about the plot for WandaVision. On the other hand, Howard High School senior Eian Butler believed that there was no plot.

He claimed, “I really thought it was going to be a comedic spinoff, and wouldn’t have any sort of plot.”

When it comes to the character people enjoy the most, there is no obvious answer. While most might say their favorite character is Wanda due to female empowerment, others may say their favorite characters are Wanda’s twins. Some people, like Mt. Hebron senior Amna Syed, may have even found the villain to be their favorite character.

Syed said, “My favorite character in the show was Agnes. As much as she is the bad guy, she held a lot of potential in the show. I feel like she helped Wanda really switch on her full potential”.

For those who are worried about the decline in MCU movies, fear not. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is being released two weeks after the last episode of WandaVision on March 19. Along with the release of that movie, Marvel Phase 5 is being released in 2022 with movies such as Black Panther 2, Ant-Man 3, Doctor Strange 2, Captain Marvel 2 and a few others with their release date to be determined.

The recent death of Chadwick Boseman shook the MCU and fans of the movie Black Panther. The big question is how will they come out with a second Black Panther when their main character can no longer be cast. Syed expressed her worries about the movie saying,

“I am excited for this one as well, but mostly saddened because it’s going to be hard not seeing Chadwich Boseman play Black Panther. I am ready to see how this one turns out.”

For future movies, a fan favorite seems to be the release of Doctor Strange 2 and Spider-Man 3. Many anticipate the inclusion of Wanda Maximoff from “WandaVision” in the upcoming Doctor Strange movie, and others are excited to learn more about the major cliffhanger at the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Syed said, “Because of how his identity was revealed in the second movie, I want to see how Peter Parker deals with that.”

Overall, the recent MCU releases have created a fun, weekly event for Mt. Hebron students to enjoy, and many are excited about the upcoming projects.
