MTH Votes For New SGA Executive Board

On May 17, the results of the 2017-2018 Student Government Association (SGA) elections were revealed, which included 10 voted positions.

The results revealed junior Steven Jin as SGA President, junior Sophie Bronow as Vice President, junior Angela Wang as Secretary, junior Erik Vaughan as Treasurer, junior Libby Milano as Publicity Manager, sophomore Caroline Siedlecki as Representative to the PTSA, junior Ellie Mckenzie as the Student Engagement Representative, sophomore Ryan Jung as Representative to the Board of Education, and sophomore Faith Kipchirchir as Representative to the School Improvement Team.

Each candidate succeeded in giving their best efforts in campaigning and aiming to reach their fellow students to prove they are the best fit for each position. And now that they have won the elections, all members are prepared to give their hard work and devotion to helping to represent the student body next year.

Jin will be working alongside Bronow to lead the SGA. The two will be responsible for the overall successes of the group as they organize and collect information to improve student life for next year.

“I’m honored and excited to continue helping Mt. Hebron through another year on SGA,” Bronow said. “I hope to increase the amount of money we raise through the Canned Food Drive even more and to better the connection between the students and the SGA.”

Kipchirchir said, “I really want the SGA to connect with other groups in the school and to have more active general assemblies outside of the Canned Food Drive so that we always have student’s input aside from the Executive Board.”

Kipchirchir also mentioned how honored and grateful she was to be elected by her fellow peers. She explained how she believes there is a disconnect between the teachers and students that can be improved.

“I will be the representative to the school improvement team, and I intend on using this position to act as a bridge between our facility and the students,” she said.

Milano hopes to notify students through social media of all SGA activities, events and news. She expressed her excitement as a member and is “ honored” to have been given another year to serve the student body on the SGA.

All these elected SGA members intend to fulfill their position to enhance the effectiveness of the SGA team and to make the next school year better for every student.
