Varsity Sports Recap: Week of 12/14

Week of 12/14:

Allied Bowling:

On Tuesday, the Vikings performed extremely well against Marriotts Ridge at Brunswick Normandy Lanes. On Thursday, the Allied Bowling team continued to improve and show their skill against Centennial.

Boys’ Basketball (3-3, 3-3):

On Monday, the Vikings defeated Centennial 62-50. Sophomore Cleveland Horton scored 17 points and Senior Lance Madden scored 14 points.

Mt. Hebron defeated Atholton 54-49 in overtime during a home game on Friday. Junior Johnny Linsenmeyer scored a buzzer-beating three points to extend the game, which eventually ended in the Vikings’ favor. Madden scored 17 points, and Horton scored 10 points.

Girls’ Basketball (3-2, 3-2):

Mt. Hebron lost to Reservoir 36-31 on Monday. Junior Shane Devine had 10 points.

The Vikings won 60-41 at Oakland Mills on Wednesday, led by senior Peyton LeConte, who had 15 points.

On Friday, Atholton defeated the Vikings in overtime 53-51.

Boys’ Indoor Track and Field:

On Tuesday at the Howard County League Meet at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex, Boys’ Indoor Track finished strongly in first with a total of 113 points. Junior Nathaniel Hatcher finished first in the 55-meter dash, senior Justin Johnson finished first in the 300 and 800 meters, senior Greg Bisant finished first in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:37, junior Rickie Williams tied for first in long jump with a distance of 19 feet and 2 inches, and senior Dillon Cutaiar finished first in pole vault, clearing a height of 10 feet 6 inches.

Girls’ Indoor Track and Field:

Girls’ Indoor Track finished first with a score of 87.5 points at the Howard County League Meet at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex. Senior Eleanor Zhang finished first in the 3200 with a time of 13:29, and sophomore Sarah Humm finished first in long jump with a distance of 15 feet 5 inches.

Wrestling (2-2, 2-3):

At Atholton on Tuesday, the Vikings won 47-27.

Glenelg defeated the Vikings at Mt. Hebron on Thursday with a score of 62-15.
