Week of 10/5 Mt. Hebron Varsity Sports Recap

Allied Soccer:

Allied Soccer showed off their passing skills on Wednesday in their game against Marriotts Ridge.

On Wednesday, the Vikings played Howard in their last home game. Next week, Allied Soccer has an away game before participating in the Pumpkin Bowl.

Varsity Cheerleading:

On Saturday, Cheerleading finished first at the Oakland Mills Invitational.

Boys’ Cross Country:

On Friday, the Boys’ Cross Country team was third out of 11 teams in the Scorpion Crawl Invitational at Oakland Mills.

Girls’ Cross Country:

Girls’ Cross Country was fifth out of 11 teams on Friday at Oakland Mills’ Scorpion Crawl Invitational.

Field Hockey (7-1, 8-2):

On Monday, the Vikings beat Atholton 3-2 in double overtime. Senior Katie Anderson scored the game-winner, and senior Natalie Fyock and sophomore Erin Demek scored the other two goals.

At Marriotts Ridge on Tuesday, Field Hockey lost 2-1 in double overtime.  Goalies Rachel Bowman, senior, and Morgan Cargiulo, sophomore, had a combined 18 saves.

The Vikings won 1-0 against Centennial in double overtime on Thursday. Sophomore Jaden Ross scored the game winning goal.

Every game the team played this week went into double overtime. The Vikings are now second in the county behind Marriotts Ridge, who remains undefeated.

Football (1-5):

The Vikings lost 35-14 at Atholton during their Homecoming game on Saturday.

Boys’ Golf (8-3):

The Vikings, with 52 points, lost to River Hill, 77 points, and Glenelg, 79 points, on Tuesday.

Girls’ Golf (6-4):

Girls’ Golf lost to River Hill and Glenelg on Tuesday, 8-15-23, respectively, but were also playing without County Champion, senior Josephine Jung.

Boys’ Soccer (7-1, 9-2):

On Tuesday, the Vikings beat Marriotts Ridge 1-0 in double overtime. The game-winner was scored by junior Michael Yacynych.

Boys’ Soccer defeated Centennial 3-2 on Thursday. It was Centennial’s first loss of the season and put Mt. Hebron in a three-way tie for first with Centennial and River Hill.

Girls’ Soccer (1-1-8):

On Tuesday, Girls’ Soccer lost to Marriotts Ridge 2-1. The lone goal was scored by sophomore Julia Lamparella.

On Thursday, the Vikings lost to Centennial 1-0.

Volleyball (4-3, 4-4):

Volleyball defeated Marriotts Ridge in four sets in a home game on Tuesday.

At Centennial on Thursday, Volleyball lost in five sets.
